I have always enjoyed drawing, painting and embroidery. When I was 5 years old, I accompanied my sister Isobel to the Paisley Museum and Art Galleries for their summer competition. I won a prize for my drawing of a bird on a tree. Years later, when I was 11 years old, I entered the same competition and won first prize! I remember the day of the prize giving very well! It took place on the 22nd November 1963. In the evening, I was painting with my new paints (which I had chosen as a prize) when my sister Janet burst into the living room to say that President Kennedy had been shot!
Decades later, when I retired from teaching Modern Languages, I fulfilled a lifetime’s ambition to take art classes, and I enrolled in some courses at the GSA.
I am so happy now to have sold some of my work and to be part of the collective!
