Drawing

Painting

I inhabited the “real world” of organic chemistry, semiconductors and computer networks and a parallel world of art and music, only ever putting the latter into practice. Come 2020 come Covid-19 and the chance to make a clean break from the “real world”.

After completing several OU Arts and Humanities modules during lockdown, my interest in the visual arts was rekindled beyond just reading and observing. A local art group taught me the basics of drawing and painting then onwards to Glasgow School of Art Open Studio program. New possibilities. The desire to learn. Drawing, painting, photography and the practice of psychogeography. Walk and observe. Walk and observe. The effect of a location on the emotions. The return or the persistence of elements from the social or cultural past that continue to “haunt” the present.
